Self-assessment grids

These are templates (in Word) which contain all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for a particular unit. They are ideal as an initial assessment tool. They enable you to add your own statements to show what you already know or have done so far, and to identify what you need to do. If you don't have Microsoft Word, a free compatible program for your computer can be downloaded from Open Office or you can search your phone or device settings for a suitable app.

Price: 50p

Guidance for achieving the units

These are completed examples of the self-assessment grids. They give guidance as to the evidence which could be produced to meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of a particular unit. The content must not be used by learners to complete assignments and is for guidance only. They are ideal to help assessors of the units standardise their practice, and to know what is expected from their learners.

They are in PDF format. A free PDF reader can be downloaded from Adobe.

Price: from £2.50

Assessment/Action plans

These templates enable assessors to plan what will be assessed, when and how.

The plans are in Word with suggested activities to help achieve the unit, which can be adapted to suit the assessment methods used, and to set target dates.

If you don't have Microsoft Word, a free compatible program for your computer can be downloaded from Open Office or you can search your phone or device settings for a suitable app.

Price: from £1.50

Information leaflets

Each information leaflet is based on a particular topic.

All information leaflets within a qualification's unit will cover the content of all the learning outcomes, and go over several pages.

They can also be used by teachers to support the PowerPoint presentations and by learners to gain information which contributes towards the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

They are in PDF format. A free PDF reader can be downloaded from Adobe.

Price: £1.50

Handouts, tables and checklists

These are for both teachers and learners and provide useful  additional information to support each unit.

They are in PDF format. A free PDF reader can be downloaded from Adobe.

Price: from 50p

Templates

These are for both teachers and learners. They are in Word enabling you to amend them to suit your own requirements, for example adding your logo or changing the questions.

Completed examples of each template are also available in PDF.

If you don't have Microsoft Word, a free compatible program for your computer can be downloaded from Open Office or you can search your phone or device settings for a suitable app.

Price: from 50p

PowerPoints

These are designed to be delivered in 2-4 hours (4-6 hours for the Diploma) depending upon your style of delivery and the number of activities you carry out with your learners (guidance is given).

All PowerPoints are cross referenced to the content of the unit's assessment criteria.

Each comes with comprehensive slide presenter notes which include information regarding the content, delivery and suggested activities. All end with a summary quiz, a reading list and weblinks.

You are advised to check the content for currency as things change over time e.g. legislation/website links.

You can amend or update the content to suit your own requirements. For example, you could add your logo, graphics, pictures, and links to appropriate videos. Alternatively, you could adapt the text and presenter notes to become online learning materials.

The price is kept low due to graphics and animations not being included.

If you don't have Microsoft PowerPoint, a free compatible program for your computer can be downloaded from Open Office or you can search your phone or device settings for a suitable app.

Price: £10

Observation checklists

These are designed to cover the requirements of the units or aspects being observed, for example:

  • The Award micro-teach session

  • The Certificate teaching practice observation

  • The Diploma teaching practice observation

  • The TAQA Assessor observation

  • The TAQA internal/External quality assurer observation

The forms are in Word to enable you to adapt them as you wish. You can key in directly when using a suitable electronic device during an observation activity.

Assignments and exemplar answers

(for use only by teachers/assessors)

Assignments and exemplar answers are available for some of the units.

You must be a teacher/assessor in an approved centre which is delivering the qualifications. You need to provide proof that your centre is approved to offer the qualifications for which you are purchasing for. Assignments will not be sold to learners. You may need to inform your awarding organisation as to their use, as they might want to see the materials.
